Hi everyone,
Hope you’re all doing well.
I’m super excited to be telling you all about a hotel I visited recently. I was lucky enough to be invited to Barnsley House in Cirencester in the Cotswolds. I was able to spend a night in their hotel to experience the amazing accommodation, scenery, spa and food. I had such a lovely time and cannot wait to visit there again!
Barnsley House does not look like a typical hotel at all. It was nestled away amongst lots of cottages and really felt like you were staying in a home. I really liked the fact that they haven’t done much to change the look of the building and it had kept it’s character. I was told that they have even kept the original flooring from when it was first built.
Each room in the main building had its own charm and was decorated perfectly. I honestly could have spent hours in each room as each was so unique in their own way. One of my favourite aspects was the fact they had a stairwell filled with wellies for people to borrow. I always love it when a hotel goes above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay and this just proves how much they wanted their guests to explore and make the most of their time here. They even have their own cinema for their guests!!
The room that I stayed in was gorgeous. If you ever come and stay here then make sure to book the Secret Garden as you get your own little garden which is separate from the rest of the hotel grounds. It was great to tour the grounds and run into others but it was also really lovely to come back to our own private space where no one could bother us.
The room was more like a bungalow and had lots of space to accommodate two guests. We even had the use of two TVs (one in the living room and one to watch in bed). You could very quickly tell that they had thought of everything the guest could possibly want and had accommodated for it. One of the most unique aspects of the room was the bath. I’m not used to having a bath at the foot of my bed but it ended up adding extra comfort. It was so lovely to relax and overlook the garden. I’m thinking of getting a bath of the foot of my bed now (my landlord would not be impressed).
After a stressful week at work, the Barnsley House Spa was just what I needed to relax. The staff here were so attentive and showed that they cared about each of their guests. The spa consists of a steam room, a sauna, an outdoor hydrothermal pool and a relaxation room. The only downside was that the spa wasn’t bigger as I could honestly have spent all day here. The relaxation room helped me feel the most calm I had in months and was such a lovely space to just chill out in.
While I could probably never stop raving about Barnsley House, I was still a little bit let down by the food. I really wished that they had a more extensive menu as I wanted to see a lot more of what they had to offer. However, they seemed to truly care about their food and the staff knew exactly what to recommend and made every attempt to make sure we were happy. The one thing I can’t fault was the drinks. They had such a wide variety of drinks and had over 20 types of gin. Any gin lover (or alcohol lover in general) would be in heaven in the hotel bar.
Overall, my stay was absolutely amazing. My guest and I want to come back every single weekend. It was one of the most relaxing and magical weekends of my life. I would like the thank all the staff for being so attentive over my stay. It was clear to see how hard they work and how much they truly care about their guests. So if you ever find yourself looking for a place to stay then donate forget to check out Barnsley House. It is such a special place and really is perfect for any occasion. I have left their link below for you to have a look at and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the place. I’m more than happy to help.
